Being Human star Lenora Crichlow on the hit drama’s supernatural appeal – Daily Record

The cast and crew of the BBC Three show moved to south Wales from Bristol – which has reinvigorated the show.

She said: “We needed to flee the area because of the way series two ended.

“What the production reasons were I don’t know but it worked really well. It really brought a freshness to everything.

“The set was incredible. That injects a huge amount of enthusiasm and excitement when you see how much effort, time and detail has gone into it.

“It trickles down. Everybody has a new energy and I think it needs that when you have a show which is long-running, to keep it fresh and everyone on their toes.”

The drama, despite its otherwordly premise, boasts a sense of humour and taste for the ordinary.

Being Human: Russell Tovey, Sinead Keenan and Michael Socha on series three – AOL TV UK

Since the last series, the gang have moved to Cardiff for a fresh start, and in our interview below they reveal what’s coming up – so beware of spoilers – plus, they reveal what Lacey Turner (EastEnders’ Stacey Slater) was like in her new Being Human role…

Being Human returns to BBC Three and BBC HD on Sunday January 23.

We heard the new set is haunted, is that true?

Russell – That’s true, we had things going on in the background and photos falling off shelves.

Sinead – Absolutely true, we had continuity photos printed with weird things in, like Alice had red nail varnish on but in the photos two of her nails came out black.

Russell – Also a girl did a real 360º head turn on set. The set is near an old bus depot in Barry Island and I think someone must have died on the buses.

Crichlow, who plays the ghost Annie, recently told SFX: “It kind of puts Annie in place. This zombie exposes [her] to all the things she’ll never have again. Often the things that happen in Annie’s adventures really make her realize how in limbo she is, and just how unsettling that can be when you’re looking at that for eternity.”

The series – which is a spin-off of BBC 3’s hugely popular supernatural drama, Being Human – will comprise nine episodes, and be penned by Whithouse (Doctor Who) and Brian Dooley (The Smoking Room), as well as two other writers who cut their teeth on Being Human, John Jackson and Jamie Mathieson.

Speaking to the Stage, Whithouse said: “We’ve got a cracking story lined up, with some terrific new characters and all the thrills and chills you can manage.”

Radio Times reports that Becoming Human – which follows a group of new characters, students at a fictional college – will be available through the Being Human website only, airing online midway through the third series of its parent show, which returns to BBC Three in January 2011.

Sam Witwer recently revealed information about his character in the upcoming remake. He’s going to be playing the vampire in the series, and he calls the character “a cross between a heroin addict and a sex addict [who] spent 200 years of his life being a completely amoral murderer, and now he realizes that he cannot continue like that.
